And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? |
And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. |
And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. |
And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in the Lord with all his house. |
Peter was Of The Circumcision early in his walk after Pentecost.
Water baptism is a Jewish purification rite. Peter, being a good Jew continued that ritual which John the Baptist made popular.
When Paul confronted Peter about extending Judaism into Christianity, that 'requirement' became obsolete until the Catholic Church made it a sacrament of which true Christianity has none.
Jesus never Water Baptized anyone and Paul regretted water baptizing those he did.
Why? Sacraments are aspects of religion.
Christianity is not a religion.
Rather it is an intimate personal relationship with Christ Jesus who is Mighty God and Saviour when a person is Born Again of His Word and Holy Spirit.
John Baptist foretold that Jesus would Baptize us with His Holy Spirit and fire.
Immersion into the Words of Christ and immersion into His Holy Spirit is the only baptism that makes a difference in a believer and it is the only immersion (baptism) that is required as that is what it really means to be Baptized In The Name Of Jesus Christ.
