Treading Water is what a person does to avoid drowning
➛ when they are deciding what to do next
➛ when they are unable to swim to safety.
Treading Water requires virtually the same amount of energy as swimming.
Treading Water gets you no where, whereas swimming does.
Greg Mohr makes the point that we are Be To Dos not Do To Bes.
Essentially his point is that we must be transformed before we are to go forth. If we go forth before we are transformed we will just make a mess.
Many people who receive Christ as Saviour fail to be transformed. Some of those believers go forth unprepared while many others spend the rest of their lives Treading Water.
How does a believer get prepared?
➛ by absorbing the Word
➛ by being Spirit Filled
Treading Water is what a person does when they are unable to reach the shore. It is a result of not having the strength to reach their goal.
Treading Water is what a person does when they do not know what to do.
The Holy Spirit Of Christ Jesus is our power and He is our guide.
The Word Of Christ Jesus is our authority and the source of our faith.
With power of the Holy Spirit and the faith of the Word we should never spend time Treading Water. Rather, we should be going forth as Sons Of The Holy Spirit to do the works of Christ Jesus.
If you don't know what to do or if you feel inadequate, turn to the Word and be filled with the Holy Spirit. You will cease Treading Water and become an effective disciple of Christ Jesus.
