Our natural families are precious to us. We are supposed to provide for them and nurture them in the admonition of the Lord. But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. |
However, Jesus made it clear than His natural mother and his natural siblings were not as precious to Him as those who received and followed Him as Lord and Saviour.
But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brothers? |
This tells us very clearly that our natural family is to be less esteemed than the Family Of God. Obviously we want every member of our natural family to receive Christ and be a part of the Family Of God. But, those who resist Christ will be a drag on our spiritual health and productivity if we allow their unbelief to prevent us from being obedient to Christ. |
