We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.    'We the people' expresses clearly on whose authority the Constitution is written.   

'for the United States of America' indicates that the Constitution defines the U.S.   

So if the people define the Constitution and the Constitution defines the USA then it follows that the USA exists on the will of the people.   It has no right to existence except at the will of the people.   If the USA violates the Constitution then it becomes invalid as it has violated the wishes of its creators.
