But I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not: and when you are converted, strengthen your brothers. |
All of the disciples were only converted or 'saved' on the day of Pentecost when they were filled with the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is not optional equipment.
1. Jesus did not come to keep us out of hell.
2. He did not come to cleanse us.
3. He did not come to enable us to live forever.
4. Jesus came to enable us to receive His Holy Spirit and be One with Him.
1,2 and 3 above are benefits of what He did to enable 4.
The Church is weak because it has not understood what it means to be a Christian. To be a Christian is to be In Christ. We cannot be in the physical body of Jesus.
To be In Christ is to be filled with His Holy Spirit and to abide in His Holy Spirit, to be filled with His Word and to abide in His Word.
It was never the Lord's plan to just set us free to run around and destroy ourselves once again. His plan has always been for each of us to be in intimate, personal relationship with Him by receiving His Word and His Holy Spirit as our new identity.
Peter was converted (saved) when He was filled with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Those who deny the Pentecost experience deny the consummation of the New Birth in the same way that those who deny the Word deny the consummation of the New Birth.
If you are not In Christ you are on tenuous ground. You must be filled with Him and be One with Him for Him to recognize you at the Judgment Seat Of Christ.
