Everyone believes something.
Everyone has faith.
The issue is the object of one's faith.
What or who is it that you believe?
There are only two basic objects of faith
→ God
→ man
To believe in God is to trust in God.
To believe in man is to trust in man
Looking at the rationale for trusting God, to His credit:
→ He created all things
→ He gives life without being asked
→ He desires to fellowship with us
→ He is love and Truth
Looking at the rationale for trusting man, to his discredit
→ he is selfish
→ he is violent
→ he is immoral
→ he is a user and abuser
→ he lies
So, it looks like there is no contest. But amazingly, there is a contest.
Why? Self Will and pride.
There is something about man that makes him value independence more than success. Many times you will see people make decisions that they have been warned against simply because they want to do it their way.
It seems the priority order for making decisions is:
→ my thoughts
→ my friends thoughts
→ what the majority does
→ what brings instant gratification
→ what God says
There were two builders
→ one built on the sand
→ one built on the rock
The house built on the sand did not withstand the wind and waves but fell.
The house built on the rock stood through the wind and the waves.
So it is with our Faith Object choice. It determines our success or failure not only in this life, but the life to come.
Choose wisely, my friend.
