He began by saying that he had had poor health and troubles all his life; that his foolish religious parents had believed that faith made any difference.   

He complained asking what kind of God would send a person to hell for not being good?   

I told him that many people had been taught traditions and not the Truth of God in Christ Jesus.   

Upon mentioning that I was a minister, he tore into people living off the church (ministers in general).   

I told him that I had worked as a computer scientist and did not 'live' off the church.   

He open his wallet to show me a card and said he had done more good than any one in ministry.   

I told him that none of that makes any difference to the Lord.   

I told him that he would stand before God one day.   Upon ending the 'conversation' I told him to enjoy the days ahead.   The implication being that that is all he has.   He will stand before Christ in The Judgment.   

I told him that he had made himself god in his judging of the True And Living God.   It was very clear to me that he had a Reprobate Mind.   

Is that God's doing or his?   It is a little of both.   
   → he determined to resist the Lord
   → the Lord may have pulled away from him

When you encounter a person who hates God and has similar accusations against Him as this man, be aware that the only testimony you can present to them is the one which our Lord presented to the people of His generation:

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luk 13:3 Though it is not the Lord`s will that any perish, it is up to each individual to determine their fate.      The fate of a society or nation is determined by its trajectory which is defined by the summation of the trajectories of its people.      All nations that forget God will be cast into hell Psm 9:17.

Do not cast your pearls before such swine.   

Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. Mat 7:6 Dogs and swine are unworthy of the Gospel because they reject it.     They are content to live an animalistic existence devoid of the Lord.      When a person rejects the Holy Spirit who reveals the Truth of the Gospel to them they are guilty of Blasphemy Of The Holy Ghost.

It is hard to recognize that any person is irretrievably lost but that is indeed the situation for many people today.   

Look for those who are hurting and searching for God.   It is those with whom the Holy Spirit is dealing.   They are the ones who are Good Ground who will receive the seed of the Word Of The Lord.
