Rather than speculate we should always refer to the Scriptures for Knowledge on Spiritual matters.   

So, what does the Word Say about the Last Days?   

And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord`s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. Isa 2:2 The top of the mountains speaks to its elevation above all powers in heaven and earth.      In the Millennial Kingdom all nations will observe the King and come once a year to worship Him in Jerusalem.

But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord Jesus Christ shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. Mic 4:1

And it shall come to pass in the last days, says the Lord, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: Act 2:17 The Lord Jesus Christ wants every person to believe on Him and receive His Holy Spirit.      The manifestation of the Holy Spirit is powerful to the receiver and to the body of Christ.      He enables us to walk in Newness Of Life as Sons Of The Holy Spirit.

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2Ti 3:1 Danger is often thought of in physical terms but spiritual danger has a more long term effect.

Has in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Heb 1:2 Joh 1:1 clarifies the relationship between the Word and God who is Spirit.     The Word and Spirit are One.     It is not a matter of there existing two beings.     Rather it is the recognition of    ➛ the conscious mind that interacts with things external to the person and    ➛ the spiritual essence of the person.      God is Soul and Spirit defining One person.      In the human sense a Father and Son are distinct persons.     And we know that it is unlikely that any Father and Son pair have ever agreed on everything.     This is because they are not one but separate and distinct souls and spirits.      So, when we hear the term Father and Son, we naturally think distinct persons.     However, Jesus said 'I and My Father are One' Joh 10:30.      Similarly, when we hear the word, heir, we think in terms of one person (the father) who dies and leaves his estate to another person (the son).      The Holy Spirit has not died yet He has willed all power in heaven and earth to Jesus who is His physical image Heb 1:3.      Lastly, the Holy Spirit is the Creator but so is the Word (the Son) who spoke everything into existence according to His own purpose.     Yes, before Jesus was born into humanity, He existed eternally as the Word - the Soul Of God - the expression of the Will Of God defined by the Spirit Of God.

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 2Pe 3:3 Scoffers do not believe the Truth - they seek to undermine it.     Such are Carnal Minded brute beasts.

And saying, Where is the promise of his coming?     for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 2Pe 3:4 Jesus clearly told us that He would not return until after the Great Tribulation Matt 24:29,30.      To teach people that He can come at any time is wrong.     Eventually those taught so will giive up looking and lose faith.      Because of the false teaching that Jesus could return at any moment, people have assumed He is not returning and as a result lose faith in true teachings.

The very last day has specific prophesy:

And this is the Holy Spirit Father`s will which has sent me, that of all which he has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. Joh 6:39 We are Christ`s workmanship: Eph 2:10

And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which sees the Son, and believes on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. Joh 6:40 This is an awesome statement of the love and the will of our Lord for every human being!      This is the Gospel Truth.      Have you seen the Son?         ➛ We see Christ Jesus through eyes of faith in His Word and His Holy Spirit in us.      Note that the Holy Spirit is Everlasting Life.      Also, note that it is by faith in Jesus Christ that His Holy Spirit comes into us and us into Him, making us One with Him (not 'them' as the Holy Spirit Father is the Spirit Of Christ Jesus).

No man can come to me, except the Holy Spirit Father which has sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. Joh 6:44 Each individual has The Measure Of Faith and each individual has the evidence of creation by which to know that there is a Creator God.      What an individual does with these revelations determines whether the Holy Spirit can work with them to receive the message of the Gospel of Christ when they hear it.      So, the Holy Spirit draws us when we draw to Him.     Jam 4:8.      When we hunger and thirst for the Lord we are filled.     Mat 5:6.      The ball is in our court as our Lord has done everything He can do for us to be saved.

Whoso eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. Joh 6:54 How do we eat His flesh and drink His blood?      Is this in the communion?     No,    ➛ it is in faith that Jesus is the incarnation of the Holy Spirit,    ➛ it is in faith that Jesus is Mighty God    ➛ it is in faith that Jesus is the one and only Saviour    ➛ it is in receiving His Holy Spirit and becoming One with Him.

Martha says unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Joh 11:24 Even though she confessed that Jesus could do anyting, she did not expect a miracle.

He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. Joh 12:48 The Judgment is coming at the end.      Jesus is the Incarnate Word.      Jesus will judge the quick and the dead 2Ti 4:1.
