What kind of addiction?   
   ➛ money
   ➛ power
   ➛ curiosity
   ➛ pride

Each one of those addictions is powerful enough on its own to destroy a life or a culture under its power.   

However, when you see all of these addictive forms in play at the same time you realize the inevitability of destruction that awaits our secular world.   

Jesus came to fix humanity that was broken on so many levels.   But the source of all the brokenness was separation from their Creator.   

That separation was spiritual in root but manifested itself in the addictions listed above.   

But seek you first the kingdom of heaven, and the Lord's righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Mat 6:33    ➛ To seek means to go after in order to obtain.         ➛ Kingdom Of Heaven implies there is a domain and a king over that domain.         ➛ Heaven is the Spirit Realm.         ➛ His Righteousness is not our righteousness.         ➛ His righteouseness is Himself 'All these things' are all the blessings of a healthy, happy, prosperous life.      This verse sets the priority for our existence.     We were created to be in intimate, personal relationship with our Creator.     That is priority 1.      But God created all the beauty and all the variety and the resources of the earth for us to enjoy.     That is priority 2.      Making Priority 1 priority 1 enables maximizing priority 2.     Priority 1 engenders Eternal Life.     Priority 2 engenders Abundant Life.      Making priority 2 priority 1 results in Loss Of Soul in Eternal Death.

When a machine is out of balance its components conflict with each other rather than working together to execute as designed.   

The sin and separation from God which resulted from it should be seen as a major balance issue.   

Man was created by God for a specific purpose.   

Once man became separated from His Creator he lost the ability to function as designed because that separation resulted an inordinate worship of:
   ➛ money
   ➛ power
   ➛ curiosity
   ➛ pride

Addictions resulted from that idolatrous worship.   

In an addicted state, whatever the object of the addiction is becomes the god that is before the Creator.   

Unlike our Creator God who is interested in our welfare and prosperity, the false god who addicts is only interested in itself, satisfying its immediate desire above all other issues.   

Here is an example of what we see in the life of the addicted.   
Remember the song 'Addicted To Love'?   

This song was not about a healthy, Godly love that serves.   Rather, it was about FORNICATION.   So, the honest title would have been 'Addicted To Fornication'.   

But denial is a big part of the world of addiction.   'I can stop any time I want.'

Christ Jesus came to set us Free from everything that has us in bondage.   

If medication or psychotherapy or twelve-step programs were sufficient to set people free, He would never have stepped down from heaven, took human flesh, suffered humiliation, rejection, physical abuse and death at our hands.   

Each of us must be Born Again in a spiritual transaction in which our Sin Nature is replaced with a New Spirit that is of the Holy Spirit Of Christ Jesus.   

As wonderful and refreshing as the New Birth is to those who have experienced it, most people do not believe and receive the invitation issued by our Lord.   
   ➛ So, they remain addicted.   
   ➛ So, they remain vulnerable to deception.   
   ➛ So, they will be lead by the enemy.   
   ➛ So, they will die in their sins.   
   ➛ So, they will end up in the Lake Of Fire.   

It is the body of unbelievers along with the weak and half-hearted believers who will not recognize the Beast for what he is.   Being under the control of their addictions they will submit to tighter chains of bondage.   

And all of this is so unnecessary!   

For the Holy Spirit so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Joh 3:16 The Holy Spirit is the eternal, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent Creator of all things by the Word.      What world is John speaking of?         ➛ The earth and all the people born into humanity.      The Holy Spirit is love and love is of the Holy Spirit.      The world was created by our Lord and it is good.     We know that man chose rebellion against the Holy Spirit and so humanity became evil.     But the Holy Spirit loves the people of this world and so He birthed Christ Jesus into the world to redeem it and us.      The Gospel is heard and those who are hungry are lead by the Holy Spirit to believe and receive the Truth.      The Truth sets us free from sin, from death and hell and brings us to Eternal Life by the infilling of the Holy Spirit.      Here is understanding:    ➛ Everlasting Life is Eternal Life    ➛ Eternal Life is union with the Holy Spirit.

For the Holy Spirit sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Joh 3:17 Condemnation is of Satan.     He tempted Eve to cause her to fall into condemnation.     He is our accuser.     He hates humanity.      But the Lord loves us and desires for us to be saved - to experience eternal, abundant life.
