From a human perspective it makes a lot of sense.   We can't imagine a good human father destroying his child.   Such a father would sacrifice himself to save the life of his child.   
(He did in Christ Jesus)

So, when we read
   ➛ that there is salvation available only to those who call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ
   ➛ that all those whose names are not written in the Lamb's Book Of Life will be cast into the Lake Of Fire
it is with some sense of incredulity.   It just seems so rigid and drastic that we are appalled.   

Surely this is just a bluff!   Christ cannot possibly do this to the people for whom He died.   
Can He?   Will He?   

What effect do such thoughts have upon us?   Doubt, unbelief and distrust.   

The serpent used the Word Of God to undermine Eve's Faith In God.   

"Has the Lord said ..."?   

He was leading Eve to doubt God - to distrust Him.   

So it is with those who argue against the veracity of the Word with respect to salvation and judgment.   They are being used by the serpent ( Satan) to undermine Faith In Christ the Incarnate Word by undermining Faith In The Bible the Written Word.   

First of all, to bluff is to lie through words or action.   God cannot lie Num 23:19, so He cannot bluff.   

Second of all, if you call a bluff you must be willing to accept the consequences.   

To assume
   ➛ there is no God defies logic requiring that creation 'just happened'.   
   ➛ the Bible is not the Word Of God requires ignorance of it or denial that the many prophecies of Christ that were fulfilled in Jesus were just coincidences.   
   ➛ the Bible cannot be trusted is to assume that life has no meaning.   
   ➛ that God will give a pass to those who 'trampled on His blood' is to assume that God does not have standards and will accept anyone on any grounds.   
   ➛ that God could allow a being who opposes Him to live with Him is insane.   

No, God who is revealed in the Tri Fold Truth is not bluffing.   

So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isa 55:11 The Word Of The Lord (the Law Of God) has built-in rewards and punishments.      This is what this verse is speaking to.     God's Word will accomplish His will which is to bless that which is good and curse that which is evil.      In the midst of His Word providing the framework in which all things exist including the order by which it exists, our Lord is able to be who He is - the God of Love and Grace.
