Reverencing something does not mean we understand it.
E Plebnista is not a real word or phrase. It is actually a corruption of the phrase 'We the people' from a Star Trek episode.
In that episode a people like the American people had a Constitution with a Preamble that began with the words 'We the people'.
But because of a world war the people had suffered such privation over generations that they had lost much of their language skills.
The current generation did not know how to pronounce the words of the Preamble but they still had reverence for it which had passed down through the generations.
Though I have seen the episode several times over the years it never occurred to me how that we can reverence something that we do not understand.
Because of how the Holy Spirit has given me a burden to preach the simple, profound Truth of the Gospel, I have become all too aware of how the church has devolved from what Christ intended it to be.
What has caused this devolution?
We have not had a dearth of information. But knowledge requires information and understanding to be effective.
'Familiarity breeds contempt'.
With respect to information and understanding we can say that the repetition of information can breed contempt for its understanding and its import.
When you repeat pre-packaged interpretations of information then there is dullness and resistance to revisiting the information.
Such has happened to the church. Doctrines were developed and made the foundation governing what believers believed as well as the ceiling for what they believed.
It is true that when we preach the Gospel that there must be an introductory set of information that is communicated to the novice.
However, that introductory information should point to the amazingness of the Grace Of God in Christ Jesus such that they enter i to faith with an expectation of glorious things happening to them, in them and through them.
It is important rhat the believer understands that they are embarking on an eternal journey into relationship with their Creator and Savior in which they will grow in Grace and knowledge of Him.
In other words it is important that they understand they have merely left and have not arrived.
Unfortunately, because of the packaging error that has been in Christianity since just after the beginning, long-time believers are stunted, never having matured, never having manifested as Sons Of God.
So, we need a revival of Spirit And Truth teaching in the church - every denomination - even, and maybe most importantly, among the clergy.
The revival will require two things
➛ being filled/refilled with the Holy Spirit Of Truth
➛ revisiting the Word Of Truth
in that order
Without the Spirit Of Truth, the Word Of Truth has not and can not be spiritually discerned.
