Repentance is about turning to Christ and receiving His Grace which above all things involves the imputation of His righteousness to us so that we are in right standing with Him as long as we stand in faith in His finished work.
Those who do not repent and turn to Christ rejecting His Grace must therefore deal with the consequences of that rejection.
Their individual sins are inconsequential relative to the sin of rejecting the Lord of Glory, His love and His Grace.
Now those who remain in sin, though having professed Christ, are liars and are not in an intimate, personal relationship with Him.
Just think about a human marriage. When one of the partners is philandering they are NOT in a faithful, committed, loving relationship with their spouse. They live a lie and they abuse their partner. Such are not worthy of their partner.
So, it with Christ. Unfaithfulness, self-worship and rebellion is evidence the person is not in a loving, committed relationship with Christ and so such are unworthy of Christ.
