There have been a lot of good men of God who were in error.
I have been in error because I believed what men said about the Word instead of just believing the Word.
My goal in every comment I make to scripture references or theological points is to bring people to the Truth of the Word.
If in the process of that I undermine your faith in men, so be it.
Here is what AI says about R.C. Sproul with respect to the Holy Spirit Of Christ Jesus and His Baptism. My point in sharing this is again not to belittle a person in error, but make sure you are not a victim of their error.
"R.C. Sproul was not a charismatic in the contemporary sense; he was a staunch Reformed theologian and a cessationist who became one of the most prominent critics of the charismatic movement."
There are 2 aspects of this statement to note:
1) R.C. was not BaptizedWithTheHolySpirit
2) R.C. did not believe Spirit Baptism was for today
#1 disqualifies Him as a person of Truth because He did not have the Spirit Of Truth inside Him. This leaves a person with only their intellect to try to fathom Truth. Such invariably miss the mark.
#2 is a result of #1 and it is categorically untrue. Not only is this untrue but such teaching has been pervasive in Christianity for 1800 years and is the very reason the Church has been and continues to be weak today.
For those with bowed necks at this point, please read the verse below and decide for yourself why Jesus came into the world.
Remember, it is the Truth that you KNOW that makes you Free.
Blessings in Jesus' name.
