Title: Satan StealsKillsAndDestroys - Pets?

To answer the question as to whether or not pets serve Satan we should consider what they require and what they produce.

Requirements:
    food
    shelter
    medical care
    attention

Production:
    pet food bills
    vet bills
    sanitation problems
    animal population problems
    comfort to the owner
    bondage to the owner

Under requirements we see considerable resources are dedicated to them.   Under production we see only 1 benefit - comfort.

If you took a look at the requirements and production of a cocaine addiction you would see a similar imbalance between costs and benefits.

No one would argue that a drug addiction was the work of Satan to Steal Kill And Destroy the addict.

However, no one who owns a pet would dare consider their attachment to their pet to be an addiction or as something that Satan brought into their life - not God.

How can I say that God did not bring a pet into your life?
    no scriptures mention pets
Christ gave His life for humans
Christ encourages us to minister to other humans
The Holy Spirit Of Christ abides in us as our Comforter
We are to fellowship with Christ
We are to fellowship with other believers
We are stewards of the finances Christ has given us
We should help others with our excess

If there is no scriptural basis for something it is at best neutral.   If there are costs associated with that something which could be better applied then that things is a negative.

I named several resources above that a pet steals .    When pet owners love their pet more than they love people, the pet kills their love for those for whom Christ died.    I have owned rental properties that renters brought in animals against the rules ruining carpets and walls and fixtures.   So, they do destroy .

I wasn't going to mention idolatry, but, I just did.

Despite this analysis a person addicted to their pet will continue to dote on that pet and spend whatever money and time is necessary to maintain the object of their addiction.

Remember, Christ came to set us free.
