Human dignity disappears when reduced to begging
The tag for this article comes from the following verse in the Bible.
Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do?     for my lord takes away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.
'I cannot dig'?     It is likely that the unjust steward felt himself too good to dig rather than being incapable of it.     That is pride.

'To beg I am ashamed'?     That is pride.

So, what we have here in the unjust steward is a prideful man who has defrauded his employer, shows no remorse but only focuses on how being caught will affect him.

Government welfare circumvents the very important negative incentive against begging by
having the government steal for you
you getting a check in the mail

As a result, instead of having a few beggars who have given up their self-respect to beg for a living, we now have 20-30% of Americans indirectly begging.

Over 72 million Americans receive some form of welfare benefits in an average month , with over 42 million using food stamps (SNAP) as of 2025-2026.   Major programs serve millions: roughly 20–23% of Americans utilize Medicaid or Medicare, while around 12% rely on food assistance.    - AI There are two illusions that work hand in hand to promote begging:
That there is an unlimited amount of money which the government can draw upon.
That receiving money from the government is NOT receiving stolen goods.

It has been reported by 'conspiracy theorists' that most of what we have been taught is a lie.   I don't know about that but the two illusions that are leading us to financial ruin in this country were definitely promoted by the socialist/communist element in our country.
