Cultured, refined, and well mannered
When a person is In Christ they desire to be couth.   They may not start out that way.   They may have been raised to be uncouth, surrounded by uncouth relatives, friends and neighbors.

But, In Christ, we are New Creatures.   We are given two things to help us go from uncouth to couth:
    the Words Of Christ
    the Holy Spirit Of Christ

No doubt we all struggle to conquer the strongholds in our souls (mind, will emotions).

Sometimes we are not even aware of those strongholds.

Sometimes we identify those strongholds as belonging to God.

But until the Spirit Fruit is manifesting in us and through us in EVERY situation, there is a stronghold that prevents us operating totally in the Holy Spirit according to the Word.

This is why there are problems in churches and between churches.   There are people in all of them and virtually all the people have strongholds.

To the extent a person has one or more strongholds, they are not always couth.   From time to time they will speak and or act out of the stronghold instead of the Holy Spirit and Word.

The challenge for us is:
    to recognize the stronghold
    to manage the stronghold
to be freed from the stronghold

This is an individual thing and requires
an act of the will to give up the stronghold
the power of the Holy Spirit to remove it
a desire to be submissive to the Holy Spirit

Couth above all things is of the spirit.   It is who you are.   It is the nature that you have owned.

So, you cannot become couth unless it is really what you want and what you are willing to own.

The Holy Spirit Father wants only the best from you.   But, He forces NONE of His fruit to manifest through you.   He defers to your will and your heart (which is the intersection of your soul and spirit).

You do not have to be formally educated to be couth.
You do not have to be wealthy to be couth.
You do not have to good looking or talented to be couth.

But you do have to be humble to be couth.

The humility is what the Holy Spirit needs from you to be able to step up and present Himself through you.

No need to go to finishing school.
Submit yourselves therefore to the Lord.     Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
These commands ensure victory.

The Lord wants only your best interest served, so work with Him.

Satan, on the other hand, is the enemy and must be resisted whenever and wherever he appears.

We submit from our will just as we rebel from our will.     The rebellious attitude leads to destruction while the submissive attitude leads to eternal, abundant life in the Holy Spirit.

By the way, you don`t have to submit to someone who has Extreme Sovereignty.
