What the Holy Spirit loves unconditionally about us is our potential in Him.   

God has compassion on humanity.   

The Holy Spirit invested Himself in that potential by personally paying off the debt of sin through his suffering, death and resurrection through Christ Jesus.   

His will is that none perish but come to Him to reach their potential.   Those that come to Him are loved by Him.   

But His will is NOT done by those who reject Him, aborting their potential.   Such are NOT loved by Him.   

I understand that this flies in the face of traditional teaching.   

Confusing compassion with love causes us to misrepresent the Gospel in a subtle but import way.   
   ➛ compassion is an emotional response to another person's condition
   ➛ love is a connection involving mutual care and oneness

It is a fact that you cannot love another person who does not love you in the same way that you can love a person who also loves you.   

Traditional teaching chokes on the concept of eternal, unending torment in hell.   

We see people arguing that a loving God could not sentence a person to eternal unending torment for simply rejecting the Lord Jesus Christ.   

But when we look at the scriptures, we see that Justice And Judgment are part and parcel of our Creator's character.   

So, how can a loving God destroy a rebellious person in hell fire, if He really loves them?   He can't and He won't but He will because He does NOT love them.   

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Pro 8:17 The Holy Spirit is Love and He Loves.      But we have the Authority to turn His Love off toward us.      Rejecting Him by rejecting Christ Jesus cuts a person off from His Love.     That is how He is able to send such to the Lake Of Fire Heb 10:38 Rev 20:15.      But we are not of those that draw back Heb 10:39.      Rather, we draw near and experience more and more of His awesome Love and Grace Joh 1:16 Eph 3:8.

Draw near to the Lord, and he will draw near to you.     Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded. Jam 4:8 It is the Lord who draws us to Him by His Holy Spirit but that is just a tug.     We must respect His wooing by turning to Him and desiring Him.      Sinners can only cleanse their hands by repenting, turning to Christ and receiving His cleansing blood, Christians can only purify their hearts by deciding to believe the Word Of The Lord exclusively.     Otherwise, they are Double Minded which yields confusion, fear, unbelief and weakness.

The Love Of God is conditional.   

Even Jesus said so about Himself.   He had to be obedient to the Holy Spirit to receive His love.   

Therefore does my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. Joh 10:17 Who loves Jesus?     The Father.      Who is the Father?     The Holy Spirit.     Luk 1:35 Mat 1:20 Jesus laid His life down and then He took it up again.      How did He take it up?     By His Spirit - the Holy Spirit.     Rom 8:11 Our soul must be in agreement with our spirit in order for us to be at peace with ourselves, to have self-repect, to feel good about ourselves.      Jesus is saying that His Holy Spirit is pleased with what He has humbled His Mind and Body to perform.

It is NOT the Truth to tell people that are in rebellion against God that God loves them.   It gives them a false sense of security, thinking that no one who loves them will destroy them.   

When it says " God so loved the world" it is talking about His creation, His plan, His goal.   And what is that?   To raise up children unto Himself.   Children who love their parents are like their parents.   So it is with us.   

When a person comes to Christ they must love Christ more than they love themselves or anyone else.   

He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Mat 10:37 There can be no one revered before the Lord Jesus Christ.     Jesus is echoing the eternal requirement by His Holy Spirit that He be the source, the substance and the end of our lives.      To not value the Holy Spirit as such makes a person unworthy of Him.      It is very difficult to make a choice which causes us to break fellowship with our parents, siblings and children.     But Christ demands our commitment to follow Him whatever the cost.

If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. Luk 14:26 We don`t predetermine to hate anyone, but we must be predisposed to put Christ first and foremost regardless of who may disagree or come against us.

It is the person's love for God that opens up that pathway by which the Love Of God for them becomes a reality instead of just a potential.   

The Gospel is good news.   It is the Truth about God, His Grace, His offer of Himself.   But Grace Is Conditional and the rejection of God has severe implications.   

And whoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Rev 20:15 Everyone who rejects Christ Jesus will be cast into the Lake Of Fire.      Rejecting Christ Jesus is the Unpardonable Sin.

So, do not cheapen Grace.   It is an offer by God that MUST be received in order to avoid His WRATH Joh 3:3-8 .   

Marvel not that I said unto you, You must be born again. Joh 3:7 This is the first time Nicodemus has heard about being Born Again.     But Carnal Minded people will resist this spiritual truth.     They will marvel at the concept, consider it and reject it because of their preference for darkness, rebellion and the status quo.

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, Heb 10:26 The willful sin that would require another sacrifice is the rejection of the Christ Jesus and His finished work.     All other sins are forgiven.

But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. Heb 10:27 Adversaries are those who reject Christ Jesus whose end is the Lake Of Fire.

He that despised Moses` law died without kindness under two or three witnesses: Heb 10:28 There is no other Saviour than Christ Jesus the Lord.     Those who reject Him will receive the same judgment as past rebels.

Of how much severer punishment, suppose you, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden under foot the Son of the Holy Spirit, and has counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has done despite unto the Spirit of grace? Heb 10:29 This verse applies to all who reject the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
